Tempo

Students in 2nd and 3rd grade have been using the old school hand jive 'Miss Mary Mack' to discover the different levels of Tempo.

Tempo is a music word that means speed. We have been singing songs, playing instruments, and dancing to experiment with different tempo.

Here are some levels of Tempo:
Largo = Slow
Presto = Very Fast
Moderato = Medium or moderate

Shout Out!

Huge SHOUT OUT to The Musician's Learning Center of Raleigh for partnering with our school to bring instruments into our Music classroom! Partnership Elementary School now has six brand new Xylophones, a set of Rhythm Sticks and some other percussion instruments that our students can use to make music with. We are super excited!
Thank you to Ms Melissa Jeffreys, owner, and all the staff at The Musicians Learning Center for supporting our school. Anyone interested in Private Music Lessons can check out the Learning Center's Webpage for more info!

First Week - Rhythm Challenge One and Two

Thanks to all the students and staff at Partnership for making the first week of Music Class so awesome!

Here is a pic of Rhythm Challenge One and Two for you to practice at home.

You can play it on a drum, piano, guitar, or your recorder.
You can play it using an app on your iPod or smart phone.

You can also make your own instrument using things around your house to play the rhythms on.
(I like to turn a small trash can or bucket upside down to make a drum and use a hair brush as a drum stick.)

See you in class!
